NCEA Level 1 Japanese

Course Description

At Level 1 Japanese you will become more confident with the Hiragana, Katakana and Kanji scripts.

The course is focused on the life of young people.  Do you want to be able to talk to our International students about schooling and life at school?  Would you like to know how to talk about organising birthday parties in Japanese? How about being able to talk in Japanese when you go shopping with a Japanese friend?  You will learn to do this at Level 1 Japanese.  You will also learn to talk about your town, what you can do there, giving directions and about travelling both in New Zealand and Japan.  This course will set you up for communicating about the things that matter to YOU in Japanese.

Through this course you will develop the core skills for learning languages: listening, reading, communicating through writing and speaking, and presenting.

You will learn about other cultures and gain skills in perception and awareness. By learning a new language, you will also gain a better understanding of your own language.
