NCEA Level 2 Visual Art: Photography
Course Description
At Level 2 you can select two Visual Arts subjects.
In Level 2 Photography you are encouraged to examine how we view and represent the world around us. In consultation with your teacher you will develop ideas and an individual theme across the year to formulate an individualised photographic style. You will take inspiration from established artist models in ideas and techniques and you will develop and understanding of photography conventions and how to use them to create meaning.
You will learn how to use a digital SLR camera manually and how to use studio lights to create professional photographic images. You will also learn how to use industry-standard Adobe Suite programmes, including Photoshop. Photography can utilise a range of approaches including sketching, collage, digital processes, darkroom practice, found materials and installation work.
The year will culminate in the creation of a body of photographic work around your chosen theme which will showcase the development of your ideas and techniques.
