Year 10 Te Reo Maori

The Year 10 Te Reo Māori course is designed to prepare students for Level 1 Te Reo Māori as well as equip students with insights and experiences that will enrich and broaden their understanding of the uniqueness and complexity of te ao Māori.

In this course we will explore our immediate environment and focus on areas of personal interest. 

You will learn how to understand and construct simple texts using your knowledge of te reo Māori to describe aspects of your own background and immediate environment.

Topics covered include: introducing yourself and your family; talking about your daily life; school; Aotearoa New Zealand; hobbies and spare time activities; eating and drinking; personal descriptions.

You will learn how to recognise and describe ways in which the Māori culture is organised and compare and contrast cultural practices through cultural assignments.
