Course Description
NCEA Level 3 Visual Art: Design
At Level 3 you can select two Visual Arts subjects.
In Design we will help you to extend the skills and knowledge gained in the Level 2 Design course and heighten your ability to analyse and decipher the visual world you are immersed in.
We will broaden your theoretical understanding of Design practice through the independent investigation of contemporary designers to influence your work.
You will increase your digital design expertise through individual practical exploration and continued application of the Adobe Creative Suite processes.
We will extend your ability to critically investigate a personal proposition and fluently apply processes, materials, techniques and design conventions to produce an innovative and original body of work for the external folio submission.
We will prepare you with skills necessary to be successful studying at Tertiary level in a range of courses such as Design, Fine Arts, Communications, Architecture and ICT based courses.
Recommended Prior Learning
You will need 12 credits in one or more Level 2 Visual Arts subject(s) - (Level 2 Design is an advantage) OR HOD Approval.
Contributions and Equipment/ Stationary - Costs are applicable for Adult students only
There is a $45.00 Stationary Fee for Level 3 Design which covers specialist take home equipment.

You will be assessed in this course through all or a selection of the standards listed below.

Approved subject for University Entrance
Number of credits that can be used for overall endorsement: 18
Only students engaged in learning and achievement derived from Te Marautanga o Aotearoa are eligible to be awarded these subjects as part of the requirement for 14 credits in each of three subjects.
