Year 10 Fashion and Design

Course Description

In this course, we will focus on surface application techniques such as: machine embroidery, hand embroidery, applique and hand sewing. We will investigate different subcultures throughout history and design a ‘mash-up’ of two chosen subcultures in the form of a fashion collection. Here, we will learn basic drawing skills and fashion illustration to grow our design skills. 

The final project focuses on the construction of a garment using a commercial pattern. We will learn basic pattern making skills and sewing skills to be able to follow technical instructions to make a garment of our own.
