While this course will offer a focus on texts coming from Aotearoa, we will also travel across countries and cultures to look at the challenges facing a variety of indigenous peoples. We will examine how authors give a voice to their people, tell their stories and widen the horizons of all who read their work.
If you are interested in studying texts from a diversity of cultures, which may include Maori and Pasifika cultures, this course may be for you.
Term 1
Biological experiment. Students learn how to carry out a biochemical experiment on osmosis in the laboratory.
Animal diversity. Students explore the diversity among living things in how they obtain nutrition and then compare animals of their choice which may include sharks, crocodiles, whales, humans, elephants, giraffes, turtles.
