NCEA Level 1 Art: Drawing & Painting
Course Description
NCEA Level 1 Art: Drawing & Painting
At Level 1 you can only choose one Visual Arts course.
Level 1 Art: Drawing & Painting is a practical course aimed at developing a strong foundation of art-making techniques and skills. You will explore art ideas, technical processes and artist models, while expanding your drawing and painting visual vocabulary.
Across the year you will create a large body of work, linked together with a chosen theme. Drawing is taught as the basis of most investigations and will help lead your work into a more individualised painting style. You will also create a range of mixed media outcomes and look at established artists to interpret how and why art is made.
You will be encouraged to develop ideas creatively, experiment, take risks, and be inspired by the visual world you have around you!
This course of study leads on to NCEA Level 2 Visual Art subjects - Painting, Photography, Design and Art History.
