NCEA Level 2 Science Physics
Course Description
We will further develop the skills you learnt in 01 Science Combined or 01 Science General.
There is some flexibility in this course to suit your individual interests and provide the requirements you may need for the Level 3 course and beyond.
You will deepen your thinking and problem-solving skills as you study the basic principles and laws of physics.
Course Overview
Term 1
We will complete the mechanics external standard this term, then start the contextual report.
Term 2
This term we will complete the contextual report, then carry out an internally assessed practical assessment. We will end the term by starting the other external on Electricity and Magnetism.
Term 3
We will complete the final external assessment on Electricity and Magnetism, then the rest of the term will concentrate on exam preparation.
Term 4
This term is all about exam preparation.
Recommended Prior Learning
Students will need to have passed two Level 1 science externals, one of which must be a Physics external at Merit or above. Consideration may be given to students who have not met the requirements after discussion with Head of Physics.
