Year 10 Food and Nutrition - 2 Lines

Course Description

This course covers a wide range of skills that will improve your proficiency in cooking, develop your understanding of safe food preparation and apply knowledge of nutrition.

We focus on fast food and its implication for our health and well-being, learning how to adapt recipes to improve their nutritional value. We will then explore a range of cuisines where we will have the opportunity to develop our own unique dishes.

This course is designed to help you gain skills and knowledge in Food and Nutrition, and prepare yourself for NCEA Level 1 Food and Nutrition and Level 1 Hospitality.

Pathway

There are many professional and tertiary opportunities that are available in this area of study. Studies in this area lead to further opportunities in the health sector e.g dietician, nutritionist, nursing, food safety officer, and hospitality.
