NCEA Level 2 Physical Education Outdoors
Course Description
We will explore learning through movement contexts and accepting challenges.
With a focus on movement and its contribution to the development of self, others and society, we will develop your movement and interpersonal skills, and demonstrate constructive attitudes and values. This will also promote and support the development of physical and social skills, foster critical thinking, and develop an understand the significance of physical activity in our society.
Learn through outdoor pursuits, leadership activities and adventure. By actively engaging within the community we will have the opportunity to gain extensive knowledge and confidence in a leadership role.
Key concepts of functional anatomy, biomechanic's, skill learning, exercise physiology, active participation and performance.
You will participate in a variety of activities such as surfing, rock climbing, mountain biking, snowboarding, mud run/obstacle course, caving, windsurfing, rafting, and ropes courses. There will be overnight camps associated with some of these activities.
Recommended Prior Learning
Written application and a practical workshop/interview. You will need to 'request an exemption' when selecting courses.
Only 16 students accepted.This will be completed before end of year NCEA exams.
Students who do not get in to this course automatically get in to 02PED. They do not do both of 02PEO and 02PED.
Contributions and Equipment/ Stationary - Costs are applicable for Adult students only
Cost is approximately $450.00 per students for the year to cover all Outdoor activities and offsite work.
Snow and Leadership Camp Cost $450.00

You will be assessed in this course through all or a selection of the standards listed below.
This course is eligible for subject endorsement.
