NCEA Level 3 Physical Education

Course Description

This course explores learning through movement contexts and by accepting challenges. 

We will engage in movement to promote and support the development of physical and social skills; foster critical thinking, and understand the significance of physical activity in both self and wider societal development.

We will develop interpersonal skills by demonstrating positive values and attitudes. 

By engaging actively with the community we will have the opportunity to gain extensive experience, knowledge and confidence in leadership roles. 

Ongoing development of key concepts, including biophysical principles, skill acquisition, research, risk management in an outdoor setting, active participation and sports performance will be used for learning. Springboard and Platform diving, snorkeling, personal training occur.

Travel to offsite venues such as Les Mills and West Wave are part of the course.

Some lunchtimes will be used for travel purposes, students will start at 8.00am for some offsite activities.



Recommended Prior Learning

You will need to have completed Level 2 Physical Education of Physical Education Outdoors with at least 14 credits. 

If you have not done Level 2 Physical Education you need to see the Head of Department about access to this course.

Contributions and Equipment/ Stationary - Costs are applicable for Adult students only

$120.00 towards travel and offsite venues.
60 Clear-file and 1B5 exercise book.
An Outdoor Camp to Goat Island and Poor Knights Island are a part of this course $230.00 TBC.
