NCEA Level 1 Science Combined (Phys/Chem)
Course Description
In Physics we will cover the basics of Newtonian mechanics, which are the rules governing motion, forces and energy. This includes a practical internal assessment where students will conduct a fair test in a physics investigation. We will also study the properties of waves including their characteristics and behaviors, and how these influence the applications of waves in the real world. The chemistry in this course covers the properties of acids and bases, atomic structure, and the generalised rules of chemical reactions. 01 Science Combined takes two option lines in your timetable: 01SCBC (Biology/Chemistry) and 01SCPC (Physics/Chemistry). This course is designed for students who are interested in continuing on with Science at Levels 2 and 3, providing students with a broader platform for entry into two or more of Level 2 Biology, Chemistry and Physics. |

Pathway
Students who select this course generally continue on to one of the pure sciences at Level 2 (Biology, Chemistry or Physics). However, students can select General Science at Level 2.
